Reimagining the work of a master requires equal parts sensitivity and restraint. At SNDT Women's University, one of Mumbai's first autonomous universities dedicated to women's education, the opportunity was to thoughtfully revive the landscape, façade, and administrative block of the Home Science building, originally designed by Charles Correa in 1973. Working within a modest budget, familiar materials like local ceramic tiles and traditional China mosaic were transformed into symbolic landscapes inspired by mountains, the rising sun, and birds taking flight, celebrating learning and new beginnings. Inside, the original terrazzo and Kotah flooring became the foundation for a warm material palette of natural wood, Baroda green marble, and lush planting, honouring the building's legacy while bringing renewed life to its spaces.
