A House Reclaimed

This two-storey Mumbai bungalow was reimagined around a remarkable collection of restored architectural elements sourced from a traditional Kerala home, including intricately carved wooden ceilings, columns, and an ornate entrance door. The challenge lay in thoughtfully integrating these heritage pieces into a contemporary home while preserving their character and ensuring the spaces remained functional, light-filled, and inviting. Structural interventions, recessed ceilings, and a new glass façade helped accommodate the scale and weight of the reclaimed elements, bringing in natural light and visual openness. The result is a harmonious dialogue between heritage architecture and contemporary living, where every restored element finds a renewed purpose.
